CHARACTER: Momburu

A brother to Ling and Shanti, Momburu is another of the six children of Gilgamesh chosen at a young age to receive the nectar of life.

 

 He lives with a peaceful tribe on the vanishing grassland of the Sahara in north Africa. Though he spends most of his time herding cattle, he is a skillful hunter, and is known for his wisdom and healing abilities.

SETTING: Sahara

Scientists disagree when the Sahara began its final phase of desiccation, becoming too arid for most living things. For purposes of the book we have large parts of it still habitable around 2000 BC.

 

Today it is a vast desert that continues to grow a small amount each year.

As we know, a picture is worth a thousand words. Much of what we know about ancient Saharan life comes from pictures carved into rock by people now long gone.
